Students stay with their small group for the two years they are in
the Confirmation program.
7th & 8th
Crosstrainers is our Confirmation program where teens are AWAKENED in their faith and understanding of God’s Word.
Crosstrainers is a two-year journey for our 7th and 8th grade students, which begins in August and ends in May each year. One year, the students will learn about the creeds, the church prayers, theology and Lutheranism. The other year, they will study 26 different bible stories.
The confirmation class meets on Sunday mornings from 9:30 – 10:30 and consists of large group time and small group time.
At the Confirmation
retreat, each student
presents a banner that
includes their 'life verse'.
Confirmation Schedule 2011-2012
During large group time, the students learn the key words, the scripture and receive a general overview of the lesson. Frequently, the lesson and scripture is tied into current themes and various media methods are used. During small group time, the students discuss the main points of the lesson in greater detail.
Our confirmation experience draws heavily from Faith Inkubator resources developed by Reverend Rich Melheim. We really want confirmation to be more than knowledge. We want to move it from the head to the heart. Thus, small group time is very important. Each student is placed in a group of 5-6 fellow confirmation students. They grow together in the same group for two years. Within each small group there are also two-high school students who serve as peer guides and an adult leader investing in each confirmation student.
Confirmation at Christ the Savior is not limited to Sunday mornings. Students have the opportunity to participate in fellowship activities and servant projects. These are done within their small groups and also in combined group efforts.
We strongly encourage our confirmation students to participate in worship services or serve in the children ministry at the 10:45 worship hour. It will be great for them to be a mentor to the children while being mentored in the confirmation class.
During the 8th Grade Retreat, Confirmation
students spend time learning about their
spritiual gifts.
Students play Zball at Spring Hill during the Jr. High retreat.
