Help Feed the Hungry in Indiana and Around the World

Pack meals at our tent at the Flavor of Fishers

Christ the Savior is teaming up with Kids Against Hunger to fight hunger in Indiana and around the world.  We raised close to $7,000, enough to cover the cost of 26,000 meals for hungry kids.  We will bring community awareness to hunger and the Kids Against Hunger meal packing program by sponsoring a tent at the of  Flavor of Fishers on July 30, 2011.  People attending Flavor of Fishers will be invited to help pack the 26,000 meals which will be distributed in Indiana and other locations. 

 

Packing Meals on July 30

We are packing 26,000 meals.  One meal packing assembly line requires 10 volunteers and we want to run 4 or 5 meal packing assembly lines simultaneously. So, to pack at full capacity we will need about 40 - 50 volunteers at a time. At full capacity we can pack 1500 meals per assembly line per hour. So, we need lots of volunteers to come by and help on Saturday from 12 - 4.

Understanding the need

Indiana has the 17th highest rate of food hardship, many Hoosiers are struggling to feed their families and we want to quickly respond to that dire need. While some meals we prepare that day will be shipped to developing countries, many meals will be distributed to organizations helping those in need right here in Indiana. We ask you to prayerfully consider making a donation to help us reach our goal of raising $5,000 to prepare 20,000 meals for the hungry.
