Missions
|
As called by Christ, we diligently seek to reach out to others and to impact the community in positive and compassionate ways. Mission outreach is expressed through a wide range of programs including:
- offering Christian Preschool sessions
- serving as host site for Great Banquet
- connecting with young people at Lutherwood
- making quilts and knitted prayer shawls
- giving financial support for various local, national and international communities/organizations
As a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America (ELCA), we contribute funds to the Indiana/Kentucky synod of the ELCA which are then distributed through a wide variety of programs, ranging from local to international.
Benevolence Giving is defined as monies given to benefit others/other organizations outside of Christ the Savior. In our benevolence giving as a church, we practice and model the biblical principle of tithing 10%. This dollar amount is distributed through the Mission steeple, as well as through special projects such as Persons in Need and mission trips.
A brief description of supported organizations follows.

- providing immediate relief for people affected by chronic hunger and poverty;

Hamilton County Great Banquet |
The purpose of the Hamilton County Great Banquet is to know Jesus Chris as Lord and Savior and to make Him known. The objective is for individuals to know Jesus Christ better, or for the first time, through the experiences of a seventy two hour weekend as well as to continue the weekend experience by serving Christ in their church, homes, and workplaces. Members of the Hamilton County Great Banquet are encouraged and instructed to model a Christ-filled life, demonstrating more of Him and less of themselves.
Since 1997, this independent Ecumenical Christian ministry here in Hamilton County has had over 1400 men, woman and youth attend great banquet weekends. Six Great Banquet meetings are held at Christ The Savior each year, with an additional 2 held at Cicero Christian Church.

Lutheran Child & Family Services |
Lutheran Child & Family Services (LCFS) of Indian/Kentucky has offered programs of care and counsel to children and families for more than 100 years. Among these services are The Sharing Place, which provides free food and clothing to families referred to the program, and Lutherwood, which is a residential treatment center for children who are recovering from the effects of abuse, neglect, and/or abandonment. Christ The Savior supports these programs through donations of food and other items and volunteer involvement as well as through financial gifts.

 |
Lutheran Disabilities Ministry |
Lutheran Disabilities Ministry provides many programs for those with mental disabilities. The most visible program is Handycamp, which is a 5-day summer Bible camp experience for adults who have a mental impairment. This camp experience is unique because it matches each camper in a one-on-one Christian relationship with a volunteer companion. Christ The Savior volunteers serve as camper companions and the church has served as a ‘campsite’ for several camps sessions for several years.

Faith, Hope & Love |
Building communities of Faith, Hope and Love (FHL) through facilitating active participation of local communities in improving neighborhoods and by helping those in need. We come together with one purpose: to love God and to love our neighbors.
FHL seeks to break down man’s walls of separation between churches, races, social status, government and education to unite people to show the compassion we were all created to give one another.
FHL envisions groups of people in and around the city to pinpoint and meet the specific needs within their own communities. Each group works autonomously to be what it wants to be with guidance from FHL. Mission trip without leaving home in July that culminates in a citywide festival celebration, and growing to include an outreach project every month of the year to provide people with ongoing opportunities for service and adventure. The possibilities to make an impact are endless! |
