Jan 22 2006God's Message to MaryGod chose Mary for one of the most important acts of obedience He has ever demanded of anyone.  You may feel that your abnility, experience, or education makes you an unlikely candidate for God's service.  Don't limit God's choices.  He can use you, if you trust Him.The Gospel According to Luke
Jan 15 2006The Angel Gabriel Promises the Birth of John (the Baptist) to an Aged Zechariah and ElizabethZechariah thought it incredible that he and his wife, in their old age, could conceive a child.  But what God promises, He delivers.  And it was not by chance that Zechariah was in duty in the Temple at this time; it was providence!!The Gospel According to Luke
Jan 08 2006The Gospel of Luke: An Historian’s IntroductionLuke tells Jesus’ story from his own unique perspective as a Gentile and a physician.  Luke is the first historian of the early Christian Church because he also wrote the book of Acts.  In Luke 1:1-4, we learn of his purpose in writing this book.  Come and learn what it was and of its value to us today. The Gospel According to Luke
Jan 01 2006The 2nd Coming of Jesus and his judgmentMatthew 25:31-46 presents the activity of Jesus when He comes again.  Three ecumenical creeds of the Christian faith {Apostle’s, Nicene and Athanasian} attest to this scripture witness.  We are called to be prepared and not afraid because judgment by Jesus is equally just and loving.  As we prepare for a new year, part of that preparation is evaluating our relationship with Christ.  Where does this relationship need to be strengthened?  Begin by looking at how you witness Christ in providing for the needs of other people.  Pray about how your witness of Christ can grow this year as we anticipate Christ’s return.
Dec 25 2005Super heroes, sports and the Infant JesusJohn 1:1-14 witnesses that Jesus was present in the beginning of creation and to all who received him and who ‘believed in his name he gives the power to become children of God. {see verse 12}  Therefore, this infant Jesus, who is God incarnate, is far greater than our superheroes and sports heroes.  Today we celebrate a baby, the infant Jesus, who is the savior, redeemer and friend to all people for all time.
Dec 18 2005The Uncommon Witness: Deep, Mature Love Evidences Itself in SacrificeMary, mother of Jesus, didn’t wait to see the “bottom line” before offering her life to God, as an obedient sacrificial act of love.  Bill Hybels writes, “Sacrifices mark people for a lifetime”.  In a day when ‘taking care of number one’ has been elevated to an art form, almost any kind of sacrifice will cause quite a stir and make people ask, ‘Why?  What’s different?  What’s motivating this person?’  Even small sacrifices count because we live in a self-absorbed world.  The right sacrifice, grounded in love and expressed/offered as obedience to God’s prompting and counsel, is an uncommon, but needed way to witness.Advent 2005
Dec 11 2005“Christ: The Overcoming Lion of Narnia”Both for those who have and who haven’t read or seen C.S. Lewis “The Lion, Witch and Wardrobe” book or movie, can equally benefit and learn what it means for us to believe that Jesus’ innocent death, followed by God’s resurrection power, has moved death itself to “work backwards”.  As Rev. 5:5 notes, Don’t weep.  See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered has triumphed”.  Come and learn of how C.S. Lewis’ beloved writing, and now its movie rendition, bring the message of Christmas, into the midst of the “winter” of our lives.  And bring a friend/acquaintances/family member/ work colleague with you, who, you believe, could be blessed by this message and appreciate the experience of Christian Community at CTS.Advent 2005
Dec 04 2005John the Baptist and His Authentic WitnessThe Bible tells us to “let our light shine”.  Another way of saying it – live in such a way that people around you are drawn to the God who is at work in your life.  Like John the Baptist, we are not the source of God’s light, we merely reflect that light.  This involves an authentic identity, emotional authenticity, authentic confession, and living by genuine conviction.Advent 2005
Nov 27 2005Grateful, Thankful, Praise

Based upon 1Corinthians 1:3-9, Paul's witness giving thanks for the Christian community in Corinth helps prepare us to witness in our communities during the holiday season as well as spiritual preparation during Advent.

Nov 20 2005We Worship Him: He Empowers UsTrue biblical worship requires openness, forthrightness, acknowledgement of need and presentation of self.  The release of God’s purpose in our lives and the restoration of His rulership on earth happen through the power of worship.  Then we are commissioned by the power of God to “GO”…The Wonder of Worship
