Wednesday Night Life in Advent
Time: 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
The run up to Christmas can be hectic. Find some spiritual respite on Wednesday evenings at Christ the Savior Lutheran Church.
6 pm | Dinner and Ornament Making
Enjoy soup, salad and bread (as well as pb&j’s for children who prefer that). No reservations required. After dinner, make a simple ornament that can be added to your Christmas tree at home.
7 pm | Worship
Wednesday, November 29 – Hanging of the Greens
Focus on the greenery of the season, and how evergreen wreaths, garlands and trees point us to the good news of Jesus Christ. With scripture, prayer and song, we’ll place a few of these items around the church building as we prepare our hearts, and the place we worship, for Christmas.
Wednesday, December 6 – Bad News, Good News
In a world that seems filled with stories of hurt, violence and anger, it can be hard to spot the signs of hope. But the world wasn’t so different when Jesus was born in Bethlehem, bringing good news of great joy for all people. We are still called to bear the light of Jesus into this broken world.
Wednesday, December 13 – Turn Away, Turn Toward
John the Baptist called people to repentance … leaving behind our sinful ways and embracing the gift of God’s salvation. Walking a labyrinth is an ancient Christian practice. A temporary labyrinth will be laid out on the floor of the worship space, and all will have the opportunity to walk its path. Our movement through the labyrinth, combined with thoughtful reflection and prayer, will help us to pay attention to what we are called to move toward, and way from, as followers of Jesus.
Wednesday, December 20 – Christmas Eve Nativity Rehearsal
There is no Wednesday Night Life gathering on Wednesday, December 20. Instead, those children and youth who are participating in the 4 pm Christmas Eve Nativity worship will have a pizza dinner and rehearsal at the building from 6 to 8 pm.
